How Stroke affects the Brain & Body

The brain controls the body and everything we do. Different parts of the brain control different parts of the body.  The brain has two halves, the left and the right The left half of the brain works the right side of the body.  The right half of the brain works the left side of the body.  The brain controls how we move. It also controls our thoughts, feelings and communication Each half of the brain has slightly different "jobs"  For most people this is how the “jobs” are divided

• The stroke can be anywhere in the brain
  
• A stroke can be very big or very small
  
• The stroke causes brain tissue to die
  
• The effects on the body depends on the place and size of the damaged brain tissue
